Process control laboratory data management was made 'fit-for-purpose' by improvement of data capturing, structuring and analysis, followed by an implementation of an Oracle based LIMS. As a result more accurate, real-time and meaningful results were reported to the operations staff of a chemical process industry manufacturing plant. Reports and filters were introduced to improve focus on off-spec results and out-of-spec trends, to allow proactive process control corrective actions. The LIMS was linked into introduction of a global ISO-9001 based quality system.
